Tanya has developed this new offering on request of students who have attended her other trainings.  It is developed with helping professionals in mind, folk who work with sexuality, couples, intimacy and general counselling and coaching practices.

With over 20 years of clinical experience and having worked in sexual assault crisis and with many clients who have been impacted by trauma, Tanya has a unique and inclusive offering to empower your business with the practices and frameworks it needs to be trauma informed.

This course is PACFA and ACA-approved.

The course is over 4 weeks and comprises 4 x 60-90 min lectures and 3 study pod group meetings in between lectures (where you will be required to take part in role plays and discussions and fill in forms about your learning).

THIS COURSE COVERS

  • Knowledge and understanding of the prevalence of trauma, how it impacts people and working with the effects of trauma

    • Recognising and acknowledging that trauma impacts people differently based on their culture, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, ability and socioeconomic status

    • How to develop self-care strategies to manage re-traumatisation and vicarious trauma

  • Working with trauma

    • Somatic approaches for working with trauma

    • Understanding of DBT approaches

  • Five foundational principles for your organisation to adopt

PRACTICAL DETAILS


Tanya offers four one-month-long professional trainings that can be combined to make a Certificate in Sex Therapy Practice.

Attendees of these courses have requested a Trauma Informed Practitioner training as they have found Tanya’s style and methods to be inclusive and cover areas they have not previously considered.

In Tanya’s training for professionals, her participants gain valuable knowledge and practical client intervention frameworks. These workshops cover important issues, such as consent, sexual communication, relationships, desire discrepancy, sexual pain, and how to speak about sex. 

This is a rare opportunity to learn from Tanya’s over 20 years of clinical experience. Tanya has extensive clinical experience and has engaged in diverse and cutting-edge professional development with some of the worlds leading sex educators. This cumulative knowledge and experience is woven into simple practical interventions.
